  1. Of all the compounds (cannabinoids) in a cannabis plants, THC and CBD are the most prevalent in marijuana. CBD is dominant in hemp, while THC only comprises approximately .3%.

Psychoactive effects

  • Releases higher than normal levels of dopamine
  • Creates a high

 

Possible side effects:

  • Heart racing
  • Dry mouth 
  • Short-term memory issues
  • Loss of balance
  • Paranoia

Non-intoxicant

Stimulates receptors in the brain that regulates pain perception, anxiety, nausea

Medical applications include an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever 

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CBD is “a neuroprotectant and antioxidant.” 

 

Possible side effects:

  • Sleepiness
  • Upset stomach
  • Dry mouth
